Press Release – Wednesday 23rd October 2019 – Bernards Estate Agents announced today that it has completed the merge with independently owned lettings agency, The Flat Agency & Admiralty Homes.
Bernards Managing Director, Daniel Byrne said, “I am delighted that our bid to create a formal partnership with this established and well reputed local lettings business has been successful. Bernards is performing superbly in 2019. Even though the market is going through a period of uncertainty due to Brexit and the recent tenant fee ban, we’re enjoying an exceptionally busy period in both our lettings and sales divisions. I decided to team up with The Flat Agency to support our growing business and to strengthen our already established brand in a market where the so-called ‘traditional estate agent’ is under threat.”
Since opening in 1988, Bernards has grown to become one of the leading independently owned estate agents serving Portsmouth and the surrounding area. Today, the business competes at the highest levels, offering expertise in residential and commercial sales and lettings, land and new homes, property development and financial services.
Earlier this year, the company demonstrated its commitment to serving the local residential and student lettings market, with the opening of its fourth branch, Bernards City and Student, in the ground floor of Enterprise House, in the heart of the student quarter in Portsmouth city centre. Over the last decade, Bernards has expanded geographically, and now has sales and lettings teams based in all branches located in Southsea, North End, Portsmouth city centre and Waterlooville.
This merger has demonstrated that Bernards wants to grow its capabilities and foothold in Portsmouth’s buoyant rental market with acquiring The Flat Agency’s portfolio of managed rental properties in Gunwharf Quays, Admiralty Quarter and across Portsmouth.
The owners of The Flat Agency, Gary Penney and Andy Peters, who established the bespoke business in 2006, will relocate to the Bernards City and Student office, located in Portsmouth’s vibrant student quarter within the next few weeks alongside their trusted office manager, Harley McBride. The Flat Agency’s landlords have been very supportive since being informed of the merger and staff have received nothing but positive comments and well wishes from them. More importantly, landlords know that the key players will still be involved during the immediate transition of the business and will continue, moving forward, to ensure that their best interests are always put first.
Daniel said, “My ambition is to look for other opportunities to grow our business further, whilst maintaining exceptional customer service levels and property expertise. We will continue to support our local community by providing a quality service, be up to date with compliance and industry changes, bring continued local employment and support charitable events. I am over the moon to have Gary and Andy joining our already strong experienced management team alongside Martin, Charlie and Tom. This year has been the most challenging yet within the property sector but we will continue to push forward and look at how we can grow and develop whilst always making sure our clients’ needs are met.
